Plane Theft was formed in 2021, originally under the name Cove, by award-winning bassist and songwriter Tommaso “Tomm” Monaco. Alongside him was longtime collaborator Vittorio “Vitt” Dal Maso, keyboardist and drummer from their earlier project Colorspots. After years of talking about starting a band together since high school, Mattia “Sotto” Sottoriva joined, completing the trio.In 2024, Plane Theft debuted with Rain, released through Orangle (now Mendaki). After parting ways with the label, the band embraced independence, refining their sound with a fresh indie-pop reimagining of Tomm’s solo track Communicate. They later delivered the raw, alt-rock anthem Sorry, Satan—a track written in response to turbulent times. As Tomm put it: “I promised myself I’d release an EP full of love songs—I really wanted to. But the world is burning, and every time I look at my phone I’m reminded of that.”Despite roadblocks and the challenges of long-distance collaboration, Plane Theft pushes forward—determined to release new projects, captivate audiences worldwide, and confront the hidden shadows within us all.
